About the Euro

 Since Jan 1, 2002 Euro currency notes have been placed into circulation for the 12 member states of the European Union. These being Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, and Spain. Domestic currencies (i.e. French Francs) will continue to be accepted at  all major European Banks till February 28, 2002

February 28, 2002 is the time in which all domestic national bank notes and coins will be withdrawn from use.
